Hearts2Hearts Brings Sweet Summer Energy With 'Lemon Tang'
K-POP group Hearts2Hearts is hoping to make this summer its own with the release of its second mini album, "Lemon Tang," a bright and refreshing collection centered on the group's signature message of togetherness.
Hearts2Hearts held a media showcase at Blue Square SOL Travel Hall in Seoul's Yongsan District on Monday, where the members introduced the album and shared their goals for the comeback.
"Lemon Tang" is the group's second mini album and follows the success of its February single "RUDE!," which earned strong results on domestic and global charts. The new release contains six tracks, including the title song "Lemon Tang" and "RUDE."
"Our new album contains six songs that showcase our sparkling energy through refreshing music perfect for summer," Yuha said.
Jiwoo said the album is especially meaningful because it fully embraces Hearts2Hearts' identity.
"We are a group that is sincere about hearts," she said. "Every song on this album includes the word 'heart' in the lyrics, so I think fans will enjoy finding those moments while listening."
The title track combines bright summer melodies with lively dance-pop sounds. Its lyrics compare people to lemons, suggesting that while someone may be bitter and sour alone, they become sweeter and more vibrant when together.
"We all loved this song from the moment we heard the demo," Yuha said. "It instantly felt like summer, and we thought it was the perfect song to express Hearts2Hearts' bright energy."
The lyrics were written by veteran SM Entertainment songwriter KENZIE, who wrote the lyrics for Hearts2Hearts' earlier title tracks "The Chase," "STYLE" and "FOCUS," returned for "Lemon Tang" as well. Jiwoo said the songwriter once again captured the group's signature message through the lyrics.
"Just as lemons become more flavorful when combined with other ingredients, the song tells the story of how we shine more brightly when we're together," she said.
The group also highlighted the album's performance aspect. Juun said the members practiced tirelessly to create a stage unique to Hearts2Hearts.
"We worked day and night on the choreography," she said. "Our signature formations are included again, and we hope fans pay attention to those details."
A-na introduced one of the choreography's signature moments.
"There are many movements that use the wrists," she said. "The key point is the gesture that looks like squeezing a lemon."
The music video was filmed in Okinawa, Japan. Stella explained that it follows the members on a school trip after they witness a lemon truck accident, setting off on an adventure as they chase the scattered lemons across different destinations.
"The music video is fun, cute and refreshing," Stella said.
Ian said the filming experience was memorable because it was the group's first overseas shoot.
"We were all nervous and excited," she said. "Also, Ye-on has a storyline where she develops a crush on a boy she meets by the lemon truck, so I think fans will enjoy seeing her acting."
Ye-on described the role as a new challenge.
"It was my first time acting, so it was a very meaningful and valuable experience for me," she said.
Following the success of "RUDE!," Hearts2Hearts hopes "Lemon Tang" will become one of this summer's standout songs.
"Since it's a summer song, I hope many people will think of Hearts2Hearts whenever they think of songs for the season," A-na said.
Ian added, "Our goal is to earn a spot on everyone's summer playlist this year."
"Lemon Tang" will be released on major music streaming platforms at 6 p.m. KST on Monday.
