Lee Eunsang Leaves YOUNITE, Prepares for Solo Career After Hiatus
Lee Eunsang is set to return as a solo artist after officially ending his activities with YOUNITE following a year-long hiatus.
Brand New Music announced Wednesday that Eunsang has concluded his time with the group and will begin a new chapter as a solo artist under the agency. The decision came after months of discussions between Eunsang, the YOUNITE members and the agencies involved.
Eunsang halted group activities in May 2025 due to health issues and spent the past year focusing on his recovery. With his health improving, he began discussing his future with the members and management. Those talks ultimately led to the decision for Eunsang to pursue solo activities, while YOUNITE continues as a seven-member group.
Eunsang first rose to prominence through Mnet's survival program "Produce X 101" before debuting with the project group X1. After X1's disbandment, he promoted as a solo artist and later re-debuted with YOUNITE in 2022. During his time with the group, he served as co-leader and lead vocalist while also taking part in writing, composing and producing music.
In a handwritten letter shared on Brand New Music's Instagram, Eunsang described the past year as a time to focus on himself and grow both personally and emotionally. He thanked his fellow YOUNITE members, staff and fans for the memories they shared, adding that he hopes to return with music that reflects his growth.
The agency also asked fans to continue supporting both Eunsang's new beginning as a solo artist and YOUNITE as the group moves forward with seven members.
