Park Sung-woong Reunites With 'Ok! Madam' Cast for Bigger Sequel
Park Sung-woong returns in Korean action comedy "Ok! Madam 2," hitting theaters August 12 with Uhm Jung-hwa and a hijacked-cruise storyline.
Actor Park Sung-woong is heading back to Korean theaters this summer in "Ok! Madam 2," the sequel to the 2020 hit action comedy. The original "Ok! Madam" drew 1.2 million moviegoers and built a strong fan base for its mix of family comedy and spy-style action.
"Ok! Madam 2" follows Mi-young, a former legendary agent, as her family boards a luxury cruise for a dream vacation. Their trip turns into a crisis when the ship is hijacked in the middle of the ocean. The sequel promises a bigger scale, more action and more comedy than the first film.
Interest around the project spiked last December when the production wrapped filming. Park returns as part of the original cast that powered the first film's box office run. He again plays a husband whose passion matches that of a top National Intelligence Service agent, even though in real life he is an unemployed dad trying to protect his family. The role blends physical comedy with grounded, everyday humor.
This time, Park takes on bigger set pieces to match the sequel's larger scope. Known for moving between serious and comedic roles in films like "The Dude in Me" (Nae Ane Geunom), "Ok! Madam" and "Woong Nam" (Woongnami), he leans into hands-on action and his signature goofball charm to carry much of the film.
Returning cast members Uhm Jung-hwa, Park Sung-woong, Lee Sang-yoon and Bae Jung-nam reunite for the sequel. Newcomers Park Jin-joo, Ryeoun and Choi Soo-young round out the expanded cast.
"Ok! Madam 2" opens in theaters across South Korea on August 12.
