Cha Woo-min to Play Idol-Actor in tvN's New Rom-Com 'My Bias at Work'
Cha Woo-min is stepping into idol territory. The actor will play Lee Chan, a member of the fictional boy group D.N.X, in tvN's upcoming Monday-Tuesday drama "My Bias at Work," premiering August 3 at 8:50 p.m. KST.
The series is an office romance about a new hire named Nam Da-reum, who joins a company hoping to meet her favorite idol and ends up working alongside him. It marks Cha's first turn as a K-pop star on screen.
Lee Chan is written as a full-package entertainer. He sings, dances, acts, plays instruments, and speaks several languages, with 10 million followers to show for it. A longtime fashion obsessive, he co-founded the fashion platform Apello with his friend Kang Ha-gi, played by Kang Hoon, and now doubles as its fashion director.
The setup invites comparisons to "Lovely Runner," the 2024 tvN Monday-Tuesday hit in which Byeon Woo-seok played Ryu Sun-jae, the center of the fictional group Eclipse. Both shows lean on an idol-heartthrob lead, and both landed in the same primetime slot, raising interest in how Cha will make the archetype his own.
The story turns when Lee Chan crosses paths with Nam Da-reum, played by Kim Hye-jun, at Apello and realizes she has been a fan for years. Gratitude gives way to curiosity, and the dynamic between the two starts to shift.
Character materials released ahead of the premiere show Lee Chan moving between K-pop stages, film and drama sets, and the fashion world. They also trace his path from D.N.X debut to actor and fashion director. His profile lists the details fans of the show will look for first, including birthday, height, blood type, group affiliation, and debut date. Nicknames drawn from the D.N.X universe, such as "Guardian of the Heavens," are also part of the rollout.
To prepare for the D.N.X performance scenes, Cha took dance lessons alongside his acting prep. The role is designed to let him toggle between actor and idol modes across the run.
"My Bias at Work" premieres August 3 at 8:50 p.m. KST on tvN.
