IU Resumes Social Media Activity After Two Months... What Did She Post?
Singer and actress IU is back on social media after months of silence. The star shared a behind-the-scenes video from the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards handprinting event on her official accounts on the 7th, marking her first post since issuing a public apology in May.
In the clip, IU filmed herself in a car on the way to the venue. "I'm heading to the Blue Dragon Series Awards handprinting right now," she said. "I'll do my best with the handprint. Please look forward to it."
The tone shifted once she saw the finished result. "I kind of felt like I'd done something wrong, but there was no way to take it back," she said, drawing laughs.
The post carries weight beyond its light mood. It is the first social media update IU has shared since posting an apology in May. At the time, she addressed a historical distortion controversy tied to the MBC drama "Perfect Crown," writing, "I didn't have a proper awareness of the issue in advance. I'm sorry."
The drama came under fire during its broadcast run. In episode 11, the royal family's second son, Grand Prince Lee An, played by Byeon Woo-seok, was shown ascending to the throne. During the coronation scene, court officials shouted "cheonse," a term used for the ruler of a vassal state, instead of "manse," the term reserved for the sovereign of an independent nation. The new king also wore a nine-tasseled crown rather than the twelve-tasseled crown that symbolizes an emperor. The backlash prompted director Park Jun-hwa, writer Yoo Ji-won, other members of the production team, and the lead cast to issue public apologies one after another.
