So Ji-sub Admits CG Assist for Younger Scenes in 'Agent Kim Reactivated'
Actor So Ji-sub says computer graphics did some of the heavy lifting for his younger scenes in the SBS drama "Agent Kim Reactivated".
On July 9, the official SBS YouTube channel uploaded a cast commentary video for episodes 1 through 4 of the Friday-Saturday drama. So Ji-sub joined co-stars Choi Dae-hoon and Yoon Kyung-ho to watch and react to key scenes from the show.
Yoon Kyung-ho brought up the first meeting scene between his character and So Ji-sub's, which drew attention for the actor's dramatic short haircut. "The past scenes are set in the past, but our bodies don't actually go back in time," Yoon joked. "If we had really filmed this back in the day, our bodies would look different too. I feel a little sorry about that."
The production team then asked the cast how they worked to show the difference between their younger and middle-aged selves. So Ji-sub gave a candid answer. "Rather than acting the difference, we got help from CG for the past scenes," he said.
He added that some of it was simply out of his hands. "The past is not something I can pull off on my own. There's no way around it," he said. "But as the story moves through my character having a child, raising the kid alone, and adjusting to life in Korea, I think the emotional line came together naturally."
Yoon Kyung-ho then turned the question back on the crew. "You said 'young man,' but did I actually look like a young man?" he asked, sending the room into laughter.
