Lee Min-ho Chase 1974 Assassination Case in "Assassins"
Korean mystery thriller "Assassins" has unveiled character posters for its three leads, Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and Lee Min-ho. The film, directed by Hur Jin-ho, has also been officially invited to the Gala Presentations section of the 51st Toronto International Film Festival.
"Assassins" is set against one of the most shocking events in modern Korean history. On August 15, 1974, an attempt on the life of South Korea's first lady stunned the nation. The film digs into the suspicions and hidden forces behind that day, following three men who chase the truth from very different angles.
The new posters place each character at the heart of the crime scene. Their expressions and eyelines vary, hinting at the different paths they take toward the same truth.
Yoo Hae-jin plays Chul-gu, a detective assigned to the case. His stunned look at the scene, paired with the tagline "the one who tracks the truth," frames him as a man fighting to uncover what really happened.
Park Hae-il takes on Jae-hwan, a social affairs editor at a newspaper. His steady gaze and the line "the one who reveals the truth" point to a journalist who keeps reporting under intense pressure.
Lee Min-ho rounds out the trio as Yeong-il, a driven rookie reporter. Shown racing to file from the scene, he carries the tagline "the one who digs up the truth," a nod to a young journalist throwing himself into the story.
The film builds its story around these three men chasing the same case from different positions. How the chemistry among Yoo Hae-jin, Park Hae-il and Lee Min-ho meets Hur Jin-ho's direction is drawing strong interest ahead of release.
"Assassins" will be released in September.
