Ahn Bo-hyun Returns as K-Drama's Chaebol Detective in 'Chaebol X Detective 2'

Korean actor Ahn Bo-hyun is back as television's flashiest detective. SBS unveiled new stills on July 14 from its upcoming Friday-Saturday drama "Chaebol X Detective 2," showing the star boarding a private jet in full chaebol style ahead of the show's August 7 premiere.

The series follows Jin I-su, a detective from one of South Korea's wealthiest families who leans on his fortune to crack cases the police can't. Season 2 pairs him with a new team leader, Joo Hye-ra, and expands the world introduced in the first season. In Korean drama, "chaebol" refers to the country's family-run business dynasties, and Jin I-su plays that identity for full comic and investigative effect.

The new photos put the whole Homicide Unit 1 in a different light. Jin I-su sits inside a private jet in a tailored suit, leaning back in a recliner with a crystal whiskey glass in hand as he looks out the window. His teammates Park Jun-yeong, played by Kang Sang-jun, and Choi Gyeong-jin, played by Kim Shin-bi, drop their usual rough detective look and appear in clean suits, whiskey glasses in hand.

In the first season, Park Jun-yeong initially dismissed Jin I-su as a nepotism hire, and Choi Gyeong-jin was an outright fan. By the end of the run, all three had settled into a real team. Producers say season 2 tightens that chemistry further.

"Ahn Bo-hyun, Kang Sang-jun and Kim Shin-bi are working together again after last season, so they show a fantastic chemistry where they understand each other just from a look," the production team said in a statement. "Homicide Unit 1 has now gotten a real taste of flex-style investigation, and watching them start to use Jin I-su's wealth to raise the stakes will be a strong point for viewers."

The team added that fans should tune in to see "the deeper teamwork and the catharsis that high-end investigating delivers."

"Chaebol X Detective 2" premieres August 7 at 9:50 p.m. KST on SBS, following the network's current Friday-Saturday drama "Manager Kim."
