A new government body in South Korea is drawing comparisons to the fictional agency at the heart of Netflix series "Get Schooled," which stars actor Kim Moo-yeol.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education announced on the 13th that it is launching a "Teacher Protection Unit" to shield teachers from malicious complaints and violations of teaching authority.

The unit is made up of two teams. The "Teacher Protection 119 Team" will focus on direct support for affected educators, staffed by 50 dedicated officers selected to work one-on-one with teachers who have been harmed. The "Integrated Legal Support Team" will handle on-site investigations, legal consultations, and litigation support.

"From now on, we will not leave our teachers to stand alone," said Ahn Min-suk, superintendent of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education. "Every complaint will be handled quickly and early under the responsibility of the Teacher Protection Unit, and we will take responsibility all the way through to their recovery."

He added that the goal is to build a system where teachers can focus on their work. "We will set up a teacher protection framework so that educators can step away from the burden of complaints and lawsuits and focus on teaching."

Ahn also acknowledged the road ahead may not be smooth. "Even if there are trial and error, the superintendent will take full responsibility for all of it," he said. "Within one year, we will make sure teaching authority is restored and trust is rebuilt."

The parallels to "Get Schooled" have not gone unnoticed online. The Netflix series is based on the webtoon of the same name and follows a fictional agency called the "Teacher Protection Bureau," which steps in to fix a broken education system pushed to its limits by out-of-line students, teachers, and parents. Its sharp action scenes and satisfying takedowns of classroom injustice have drawn strong reactions from viewers in South Korea and abroad.

The launch of a real-world unit built around the same idea marks a rare moment where a Netflix storyline and a policy rollout point in the same direction. For Gyeonggi's teachers, the hope is that the new task force delivers on the promise its fictional counterpart made popular on screen.
