Kang Hoon Switches Between Polished CEO and Chaotic Homebody in 'The Office Bias'
Actor Kang Hoon is taking on a character defined by stark contrasts in tvN's new Monday-Tuesday drama "The Office Bias."
Set to premiere on Aug. 3 at 8:45 p.m. KST, the series follows Nam Da-reum, a new employee who joins a company hoping to meet her favorite celebrity, only to embark on a journey of personal growth. The drama blends office romance with a coming-of-age story.
Kang plays Kang Ha-gi, the CEO of fashion platform Apello. His character took over a small fashion select shop previously run by his longtime friend Lee Chan, played by Cha Woo-min, and transformed it into a startup attracting attention across the industry.
Kang Ha-gi appears to have it all, from strong business instincts and striking looks to a commanding presence. Newly released stills, however, highlight the sharp contrast between his professional and private personas.
At work, Kang Ha-gi moves through the office and photo shoots with a focused gaze and meticulous attention to detail. His perfectionist tendencies have earned him the nickname "Kang-tail," a combination of his surname and the word "detail."
Once he leaves the office, however, his polished image disappears. One still shows him sitting absent-mindedly on the living room floor surrounded by toys and snacks. Another captures him wearing glasses and comfortable clothes as he relaxes alone at home.
His hairstyle further emphasizes the contrast. Kang Ha-gi wears his hair slicked back while working as a CEO, while his bangs fall naturally over his forehead during his downtime.
Kang debuted in the 2014 film "Picnic" and has since appeared in projects including MBC's "The Red Sleeve," tvN's "Little Women" and ENA's "Dear Hyeri."
At a press conference for "Dear Hyeri" last year, the director jokingly suggested that SBS variety show "Running Man" might still be Kang's best-known work. Kang responded with laughter and agreed with the remark.
Attention is now focused on how Kang will portray a character who shifts between a polished young executive and a disorganized homebody.
"The Office Bias" premieres Aug. 3 at 8:45 p.m. KST on tvN.
