With more than 13 years in the K-POP industry, BTS has built one of the most extensive music video catalogs in the genre, spanning over 75 releases across Korean title tracks, Japanese singles and global hits. With such a vast discography, however, it can be difficult to pinpoint the videos that truly shaped the group's identity and career.

That's why K-POPIT has selected five music videos that left some of the biggest impacts on BTS' journey. Whether you're an ARMY getting ready for the ARIRANG tour, a fan looking to dive deeper into the group's history, or someone who recently discovered BTS, these are the music videos that helped define the global phenomenon they would become.

1. "Just One Day" (2014)

After BTS' hard-hitting hip-hop concepts of "No More Dream" and "Boy In Luv," the music video gave out a softer, more romantic atmosphere. Set almost entirely inside a classroom, the members talk about imagining spending the day with the person they love, delivering a performance which is entirely built around smooth choreography.

While not their biggest commercial breakthrough, the release proved that BTS were capable of more than just the rebellious, hip-hop image that they had debuted with. The track and music video broadened the group’s appeal and introduced warmth and sincerity which later would become one of the group’s defining characteristics.

"Just One Day" became an early indication that BTS would never limit themselves to a single concept. Instead, they would continue balancing powerful performances with emotional vulnerability throughout their career.

2. "I NEED U" (2015)

Released as the title track of "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Part 1," if one music video can be credited with changing BTS' trajectory, it is "I NEED U." The video marked a dramatic shift in both the group's music and storytelling. Rather than focusing exclusively on choreography, "I NEED U" followed each member through deeply personal moments of loneliness, friendship, conflict and heartbreak.

The music video also introduced audiences to what would later become known as the BTS Universe, planting narrative threads that fans would spend years analyzing through future music videos, short films, albums and supplementary content.

Commercially, the release represented BTS' first major breakthrough, earning the group's first music show win and significantly expanding their domestic fanbase. More importantly, it established the emotional storytelling that would become synonymous with BTS' identity.

3. "DOPE" (2015)

Only a few months after "I NEED U," BTS reminded audiences that despite the attention they were getting and the rise of then their small agency BigHit Entertainment, BTS would remain one of K-POP's strongest performance groups.

"DOPE" as a track and music video stripped things back a bit from the storytelling narrative and mainly placed its entire focus on choreography, synchronization and stage presence. Every member portrayed a different profession, from police officer to doctor, while the camera emphasized the group's precision and relentless energy.

Internationally, "DOPE" became one of BTS' earliest viral successes. The video spread rapidly across YouTube through dance covers and reaction videos, introducing countless new viewers to the group. For many international fans, "DOPE" served as their first BTS music video. Its success reinforced one of BTS' greatest strengths: while their storytelling was evolving, their performances remained equally compelling.

4. "RUN" (2015)

BTS expanded its emotional world with "RUN" as the music video followed the members through moments of youthful freedom and inevitable heartbreak, capturing the uncertainty of growing up through scenes of laughter, rebellion, arguments and loss.

More importantly, "RUN" deepened the interconnected storytelling that had begun only months earlier. Fans started analyzing recurring symbols, locations and relationships between members, transforming each comeback into a puzzle waiting to be solved.

This level of long-form narrative was relatively uncommon within K-POP at the time and helped distinguish BTS from many of their peers. "RUN" proved that the group's storytelling wasn't simply a concept for one album but rather it was becoming an integral part of BTS' artistic identity.

5. "Blood Sweat & Tears" (2016)

If "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life" established BTS as artists, "Blood Sweat & Tears" showcased just how ambitious they were willing to become. Inspired by themes of temptation, innocence and desire, the music video blended references to Hermann Hesse's Demian, fine art and religious symbolism into one of the group's most visually striking releases.

The production marked a major leap in scale and artistic ambition, pairing intricate choreography with cinematic storytelling that remains one of K-POP's most celebrated music videos. The era also became a defining milestone for BTS, culminating in the group's first Daesang (Grand Prize) at the 2016 Melon Music Awards for The Most Beautiful Moment in Life: Young Forever, further cementing their rise as one of K-POP's leading acts.

Each of these music videos represents a different milestone in BTS' evolution. Where "Just One Day" revealed a softer side that expanded the group's image, "I NEED U" introduced the emotional storytelling that would define an era while "DOPE" showcased the performance abilities that captivated audiences around the world. "RUN" transformed those stories into a larger interconnected universe, while "Blood Sweat & Tears" elevated BTS' artistic ambitions to an entirely new level before their American breakthrough.

Together, these videos trace the path of a group that consistently redefined its own identity. Rather than relying on a single formula, BTS used each comeback to explore new ideas, challenge expectations and build a body of work that continues to influence both K-POP and the wider global music industry.
