Shin Min-a Rides 'The Eye' Momentum Into Disney+ Fantasy 'The Remarried Empress'
Actress Shin Min-a is closing out a busy year, moving straight from a breakout horror role into a lead part in a major streaming fantasy.
After a strong first half of 2026 with the film "The Eye," directed by Yeom Ji-ho, Shin Min-a is set to carry that momentum into the back half of the year. In "The Eye," which drew heavy buzz even before its theatrical release, she played twin sisters Seo-jin and Seo-in, drawing a clear line between the two characters through detailed performance.
Her work helped push the film to 1.52 million ticket sales through word of mouth. "The Eye" also earned an official invitation to the competition section of the 59th Sitges International Film Festival and opened in overseas markets including North America, showing that the quiet dread Shin Min-a built on screen translated for audiences well beyond South Korea.
Next, she takes on a completely different kind of role in the Disney+ original series "The Remarried Empress," due in the second half of the year. She plays Navier, the empress of the Eastern Empire, a character who refuses to break under enormous pressure and instead pushes to shape her own fate.
The role leans into the visual scale of romance fantasy, and Shin Min-a brings a striking presence, poise, and quiet authority to the world. She pairs that with sharper, more emotional beats, aiming for a character who reads as both elegant and strong.
"The Eye" is currently in theaters. "The Remarried Empress" arrives on Disney+ this fall.
