Highlight's Yoon Doo-joon Hosts New K-Pop Fandom Survival Show 'FANDOM STAGE'

Highlight's Yoon Doo-joon is back in the host's chair, this time steering a K-pop survival show built entirely around fans. The 18-year veteran took the mic for "FANDOM STAGE," which premiered its first two episodes on the streaming platform Wavve on the 29th.

"FANDOM STAGE" flips the usual K-pop competition format. Instead of putting artists on stage, it puts fans at the center, with missions drawn from real fan activities. Representatives from 10 major fandoms compete in round-based matchups, including g.o.d, BIGBANG, SHINee, EXO, MONSTA X, SEVENTEEN, DAY6, TWICE, TOMORROW X TOGETHER, and RIIZE.

Yoon Doo-joon leaned on years of idol experience to keep the show grounded. He met participants at their level, related to the fan culture on display, and kept the mood on set relaxed. His clear delivery and steady pacing gave the show a smooth flow through mission introductions and round transitions. The approach felt built to let the participants shine rather than pull focus toward the host.

The gig follows a shorter run elsewhere on TV. Yoon had joined E Channel's "Brave Detectives 5" as a regular panelist, stepping in after Lee Yi-kyung alongside actress Kwak Sun-young. He earned strong reviews there but left the show after four months, a relatively quick exit that disappointed some fans.

Highlight has a busy stretch ahead as a group. The four-member act kicks off a run of festival dates starting August 8 with the "K-WAVE INFINITY K-Pop Concert," followed by the "2026 CASS COOL Festival" and "Sustainable Wave Festival," where they'll meet fans from Korea and abroad.
