KATSEYE Climbs K-POPIT BOARD Ahead of Documentary Release and August Comeback
KATSEYE is seeing a surge in attention on K-POPIT BOARD ahead of the release of its first theatrical documentary and new EP later this month.
According to K-POPIT BOARD, the K-POP analytics index, KATSEYE ranked No. 2 on the Aug. 6 Domestic Rise chart with a Power Index (PWR_KR) score of 72.8. The group also placed No. 4 on the Global Rise chart with a Power Index (PWR_GL) score of 66.1. The Power Index combines data from music charts, social media activity and news coverage to measure an artist's overall momentum.
The numbers suggest interest in the group is spreading beyond its core fandom. KATSEYE posted a 459% jump in D-layer activity, which measures how conversations expand outside fan communities. Global news coverage increased 100%, while Spotify activity rose 31%. The combination triggered K-POPIT BOARD's "Crossover Alert," which is issued when an artist shows signs of reaching a broader mainstream audience.
The increase comes just days after the world premiere of "KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS," the group's first theatrical documentary. The film debuted at a private pink-carpet event at AMC The Grove 14 in Los Angeles on Aug. 4, where Lara, Megan, Daniela and Yoonchae greeted fans and media before the screening. Sophia was unable to attend because of illness, while Manon, who remains on hiatus, appears in the documentary but was also absent from the premiere.
Directed by Nadia Hallgren, "KATSEYE: WILD HEARTS" runs for 80 minutes and follows the group's journey from "Dream Academy" to its current chapter. The documentary features never-before-seen backstage footage, member interviews and fan-submitted videos, giving viewers a closer look at both the group's rapid rise and the work behind the scenes. It opens in theaters worldwide for a limited run on Aug. 12.
The documentary arrives just two days before KATSEYE's third EP, "WILD," is scheduled for release on Aug. 14. During premiere interviews, the members described the album as a step forward that reflects more of their own ideas and artistic growth. The comeback will be followed by the launch of "THE WILDWORLD TOUR" in September, with several dates already sold out.
With the documentary, comeback and world tour all arriving within a month, KATSEYE is heading into a busy second half of the year. Its latest rise on K-POPIT BOARD suggests that anticipation is growing not only among fnas, but with a wider audience as well.
