UNIS Extends Global Momentum With English Version

K-pop group UNIS is expanding the reach of their Japanese debut with an English-language release. The eight-member group will drop an English version of "GimmeSummer☆," the title track of their first Japanese mini-album, on Aug. 8 at midnight KST across major streaming platforms.

The new version keeps the bright, breezy melody of the original but swaps the lyrics into English. It builds on the song's initial rollout in Japan and opens the track to a wider global audience.

UNIS is made up of Jin Hyun-ju, Nana, Gehlee Dangca, Kotoko, Bang Yoon-ha, Elysia, Oh Yoon-ah, and Lim Seo-won. The group recently released their first Japanese mini-album, "UNI☆Sparkle!," and began local promotions in Japan. The album leans into Japanese Y2K style and a summer mood.

The release has performed well on both sides of the industry. "UNI☆Sparkle!" reached No. 4 on the Oricon Daily Albums chart and No. 15 on the Billboard Japan Top Album Sales chart. It also charted outside Japan, hitting No. 1 on the iTunes J-pop album charts in Canada and the Philippines. The album entered iTunes charts in Germany, the United States, Singapore, France, and Australia as well.

The title track, "GimmeSummer☆," landed at No. 4 on the iTunes K-pop chart in the Philippines and charted in Ireland, Luxembourg, and Italy. Another track on the album, "BBYBBY," also appeared on charts in some regions.
