I-DLE's Miyeon Releases First Japanese Digital Single 'RUN AWAY'
i-dle's Miyeon has stepped out on her own in Japan.
The i-dle member released her first Japanese digital single, "RUN AWAY," at midnight KST on August 10 across major streaming platforms.
"RUN AWAY" is built on a rock band sound, with soaring vocals and a fuller arrangement kicking in during the back half of the track. Miyeon co-wrote the lyrics.
The accompanying music video follows her playing guitar on a beach and running through the streets of Tokyo.
Fresh off promotions for i-dle's ninth EP, "We made," Miyeon shared her thoughts on the new song through her agency, Cube Entertainment. "It's my first Japanese digital single as a soloist, so I feel excited," she said. "I hope a lot of people can find some strength in this song during the hot weather."
Talking about the writing process and concept, she added, "I wanted to make a song that feels relaxed and can also give me energy, so I took part in writing the lyrics. It's a refreshing track with a lot of high notes, so I think listeners will feel that cool sensation."
On filming the music video, she said, "We shot all around downtown Japan while running, and I really felt a sense of release. I put the feeling of moving forward without hesitation into the lyrics, so I hope people listen to it when they're worried or worn out."
To fans, she added, "This is a song I've been preparing for a long time, and I hope it feels like a surprise gift. I hope this single leads to more chances to meet Japanese fans."
i-dle released its ninth EP "We made," led by the title track "Gimme Dat Love," last month. The group also performed at Lollapalooza in Chicago on July 31.
