Hours before BTS took the stage in New Jersey and Foxborough, fans were already finding ways to celebrate the group through the outfits that they wore. Across both stadiums, outfits ranged from recreations of recognizable member looks to subtle references to albums, songs and eras, turning the crowds themselves into a showcase of BTS’ nearly 13-year history.

Fashion has increasingly become part of the K-POP concert experience. Alongside trading freebies, organizing fan events and gathering outside venues, fans often use their outfits to pay homage to an artist in their own way. For BTS, this could notably be seen during their 2019 "LOVE YOURSELF: SPEAK YOURSELF" tour, when purple and pink became common throughout stadium crowds alongside the release of "MAP OF THE SOUL: PERSONA."

Seven years later, the tradition remains, but the references have only grown. At BTS' recent New Jersey and Foxborough shows, K-POPIT met fans who drew inspiration from different moments throughout the group's career, each using fashion to tell their own story of what BTS and attending the concerts meant to them.

At New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on August 1, fans flocked to the venue in a variety of looks, from red "ARIRANG"-inspired outfits to recreations of their favorite "RUN BTS" moments. Despite the heat and high temperatures, ARMY came dressed to impress.

ARMYs Ivy, Brianna and Elif each drew from different inspirations for their outfits. Ivy looked to the group's recent "SWIM" concept, opting for a more nautical-themed look, while Brianna, borrowed inspiration from various BT21 characters which were created by the members themselves in collaboration with LINE. Meanwhile, tying into the Korean heritage at the center of "ARIRANG," Elif wore a traditional hanbok to the show, joining other ARMYs who incorporated Korean-inspired elements into their concert looks.

At MetLife, several ARMYs also designed their own outfits from scratch or personalized pieces they had already bought to fit their chosen themes. ARMY Ebony customized her look around two of her favorite BTS albums, "Love Yourself: Her" and "Love Yourself: Answer," adding small pearl accents to her tie and beret while opting for a pink and pastel palette that contrasted with the heavier reds associated with "ARIRANG."

Another ARMY who customized her outfit was Emi, who rhinestoned the front and back of her shirt by hand in the weeks leading up to the concert. Speaking to K-POPIT about the inspiration behind her look, she said the visuals from the group's latest album had left an impression on her and that she wanted to recreate a similar feel, pointing to "Hooligan" as a major source of inspiration.

That track appeared to be a major point of inspiration for several ARMYs at MetLife, with Puerto Rican friends Allison, Alanis and Gabriella also leaning into the red-and-black palette associated with BTS' "ARIRANG" era. Rather than recreating member-specific looks, the trio coordinated through color while maintaining their individual styles. Using corset-inspired pieces, plaid, distressed knits and silver hardware, their outfits ranged from punk and grunge-inspired layering to more polished and fitted silhouettes.

The fashion did not end at MetLife. A few days later, at BTS' next tour stop in Foxborough, Massachusetts, fans once again arrived in looks inspired by the group’s music, eras and individual members, bringing another round of personalized styling to the tour.

Once again, the sailor concept inspired by "SWIM" was prominent, this time through ARMYs Jamil, Jen and Vy. The trio sported sailor caps and neck scarves that tied their looks together, while each fan adapted the theme through different silhouettes, from knee-high lace-up boots and shorts to a captain-style hat paired with oversized black shorts.

Other ARMYs continued drawing on Korean-inspired silhouettes. Hillary and GT arrived together in complementary red, white and black outfits featuring wrap-style construction, layered fabrics and tied details. Offering a different interpretation of the tour's recurring palette, the duo moved away from typical concertwear in favor of more traditional-inspired styling.

For ARMYs Adelyn and Hannah, however, the inspiration came directly from BTS' music, with the pair dressing in all-black looks inspired by the group’s 2020 track "Black Swan." They paired asymmetrical ruffled skirts with chunky black boots for comfort and carried handmade signs requesting the DJ play "Black Swan" as the night's secret song. While not specifically "ARIRANG"-themed, their outfits reflected the variety seen throughout the stadium, where fans continued to draw from different eras of BTS' career rather than limiting themselves to the group's latest release.

Lastly, Liz, Amy, Isabel, Stepahie and Jenn remained on the ARIRANG and hanbbok theme as the group coordinated their sheer red tops with black bottoms. Made by a member of their friend group, chains, belts, ribbons and other accessories allowed each person to personalize and shine in their own way while still sharing the color scheme.

Across both MetLife Stadium and Gillette Stadium, no single era or concept defined how ARMY chose to dress. Instead, the crowds reflected nearly 13 years of BTS' career, from older songs and albums to "ARIRANG" and the group's latest visuals. Whether handmade, carefully coordinated or simply inspired by a favorite member or song, the outfits showed how fashion has become another way for fans to make the concert experience their own.
