BTS Soundcheck Cancelled as Tornado Warning Disrupts Group's First Baltimore Concert
Due to weather conditions, the soundcheck experience at BTS' ARIRANG World Tour in Baltimore, Maryland has been cancelled for their concert on the 10th of August.
The city's venue M&T Bank Stadium, released a statement on their official social media accounts which stated that due to "inclement weather conditions," the soundcheck for VIP ticket holders would be cancelled. This comes as the city of Baltimore and the state of Maryland has been placed under a brief Tornado warning.
Previously to this, fans had been seen rushing inside the stadium for shelter as the warning had been issued. The warning was based on radar showing a severe thunderstorm moving east to where the stadium was placed, however as 5pm drew near the rotation weakened with no confirmed tornado touchdown in the area.
While various fans were able to sigh in relief, it was noted that a severe thunderstorm watch will remain in effect until 9 p.m local time, this comes with the possibility of damaging winds, heavy rain and flooding that could affect throughout the show.
Many fans took to social media to express their worry for fans’ safety at the venue alongside their weather concerns at this time of the year, one X user wrote "i've been at skz ny for weather delays i've been at skz dc for the heat wave and now bts in baltimore weather has cancelled soundcheck pls stop coming to the east coast in the summer."
Another user said "we're all safe in baltimore btw! and the staff is handing out free water bottles. excited to see bts let’s gooooo weather is looking better." And "I hope the concert goes ahead as planned. Praying and hoping for safety for Army and the members. Stay safe guys!!!"
For now, audiences have been let into the stadium and the show is scheduled to go ahead as planned marking the first-ever visit of BTS to the city of Baltimore for two sold out shows on Aug. 10 and 11 while on their ARIRANG World Tour.
