SHINee's Onew Faces Police Probe Over Alleged Illegal Skin Treatments

K-pop boy group SHINee's Onew has been questioned by Seoul police over allegations that he received illegal medical procedures from a woman known locally as the "Injection Aunt." His agency confirmed the questioning and shared the singer's account of the case.

On Aug. 12, Griffin Entertainment said in a statement that Onew visited a clinic in the past for skin care treatment after being introduced through an acquaintance.

As we shared in our statement last December, Onew visited a hospital for skin care treatment after an introduction from an acquaintance," the agency said. "At the time, Onew understood the person to be a doctor or a medical staff member affiliated with the hospital. There was nothing that would have led him to doubt the medical license or the legality of the procedures."

The agency added that Onew cooperated fully with investigators. "Onew stated these facts as they are during a related investigation in May and fully cooperated with the authorities," the statement said. "As the investigation is ongoing, we ask that unverified speculation or false information not be spread."

According to reports, the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul questioned Onew and TV host Jun Hyun-moo in June as suspects on charges of violating the Medical Service Act, in connection with the so-called "Injection Aunt" case. SHINee's Key and the mukbang creator Ipjjarbeun Haetnim were questioned last month under the same status.

The case centers on a woman allegedly performing medical procedures without a license, with several entertainment industry figures now drawn into the investigation as clients.
