Actor Choi Soo-young is commanding the big screen in a role unlike anything she has done before. In the film "OK! Madam: Bon Voyage," which opened August 12, she plays Anya, the leader of a crime ring, marking both her first action role and her first turn as a villain.

"OK! Madam: Bon Voyage" is a comedic action film that follows Mi-young, a former legendary agent played by Uhm Jung-hwa, as her family's luxury cruise vacation turns into a hostage crisis. The sequel returns with a bigger scale than the original and stages its action across land, sea, and air.

The casting drew attention early because it marked such a sharp turn for Choi Soo-young. Anya is a character built on contrasts. She carries an elegant, poised presence, but underneath is a cold, sharp edge that sets the tone whenever she appears on screen.

Choi Soo-young leans into that split. The character moves through polished styling and high-intensity fight scenes in equal measure, and the actor plays both sides without letting one soften the other. It is a clear break from the roles audiences have seen her in before.

Her action work is worth watching. Choi Soo-young performed her own scenes on an actual cruise ship, moving from tight interior corridors to open decks and wide sea backdrops. Across each setting, she holds the frame and keeps the tension high.

Choi Soo-young has built her career across a range of genres and characters. With "OK! Madam: Bon Voyage," she pushes into two new territories at once, action and villainy, and widens her range in the process. The film is now playing in theaters nationwide in South Korea.
