Yoo Hyun-soo Thanks Lee Dong-wook for Support on 'A Shop for Killers 2' Set
Rookie actor Yoo Hyun-soo is crediting his senior labelmate Lee Dong-wook for helping him find his footing on set. The young actor shared his gratitude during an interview at the TenAsia office in Jung district, Seoul, on the 12th, marking his first press visit.
Yoo appears in the Disney+ series "A Shop for Killers 2," a stylish action drama that follows Ji-an, who becomes the new head of a mysterious shopping mall after a brutal handover. She joins forces with Jin-man, played by Lee Dong-wook, to strike back against the global Babylon faction. Yoo plays Woo-jin, a young man from a small island village. His character stays by Jung Ji-an's side, played by Kim Hye-jun, and his final moments left a strong impression on viewers.
Though he came across as fresh and a little shy, Yoo handled the interview with a professional tone. He was quick to turn the conversation toward Lee, who also appeared with him in tvN's "Divorce Insurance." The two actors are both signed to King Kong by Starship.
"I was really nervous during the script reading, and during a break he came up to me first and said, 'It's okay to find this hard, hang in there,'" Yoo said. "That gave me so much strength until the end of filming. Around the middle of the shoot, he sent me a KakaoTalk message out of the blue. He said he really enjoyed my bike action scene. I was so grateful."
Yoo also recalled Lee's generosity during their earlier project. "When we were filming 'Divorce Insurance' outside Seoul, he bought us so much beef we could barely finish it. We even did cardio together at the gym. He did the stair climber for 50 minutes straight. I really respect him and learned a lot from him," he said. "He's the definition of a softie who acts tough."
For a newcomer stepping into two major productions back to back, that kind of mentorship can shape everything. In an industry where rookies often navigate high-pressure sets alone, Yoo's story is a small reminder of how much a senior actor's word can carry.
