BTS's 'ARIRANG' Holds Strong on Billboard 200 for 21st Week
BTS's fifth studio album "ARIRANG" is still holding its ground on Billboard's main albums chart. The record sits at No. 21 on the Billboard 200 on the latest chart dated August 22, released by Billboard on August 18.
The album debuted at No. 1 on the chart dated April 4 and stayed on top for three straight weeks. It has now spent 21 weeks on the Billboard 200. Across Billboard's specialty rankings, "ARIRANG" placed No. 7 on Top Album Sales, No. 24 on Vinyl Albums, and No. 32 on Top Streaming Albums.
The group's presence on Billboard's global song charts also carried over. Title track "SWIM" landed at No. 5 on the Global Excl. U.S. chart, marking 21 straight weeks in the top 10. On the Global 200, the song came in at No. 12.
Other tracks from the album showed up on the charts as well. "NORMAL" reached No. 36 on Global Excl. U.S. and No. 57 on the Global 200. The song re-entered the rankings after the group released a Korean-language version and a music video for it on July 17. Three more songs from the album made the Global Excl. U.S. chart: "Body to Body" at No. 130, "2.0" at No. 154, and "Hooligan" at No. 157. That puts five tracks from "ARIRANG" on that chart in the same week.
BTS is also deep into the road side of the album cycle. The group kicked off its second North American tour on August 1 and 2 (local time) in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The band recently became the first Korean act to headline AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and will continue the run on August 22 and 23 at Rogers Stadium in Toronto.
The chart hold shows how much staying power "ARIRANG" still has five months after release, as BTS moves through one of the biggest touring stretches of its career.
