BTS Jimin's Heartwarming Moment With Young ARMY Inspires ARMY to Raise Over $80,000
A touching interaction between BTS' Jimin and a young fan battling cancer has grown into a wider wave of support, with ARMY raising more than $80,000 for Texas nonprofit Heroes for Children.
During BTS' sold-out "ARIRANG" World Tour concert at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, on August 15th, five young cancer fighters and their families attended the show from a VIP suite through Heroes for Children in partnership with UnitedHealthcare. Among them was a young ARMY, who has been undergoing cancer treatment for more than a year.
During the concert, Jimin approached her in the audience, embracing her, kissing her on the cheek and giving her a tour souvenir. Footage captured the young girl excitedly exclaiming, "I got a kiss!" following the unexpected interaction.
Heroes for Children, which is an organization providing financial assistance and support to Texas families navigating pediatric cancer, later described the encounter as a memory that the young ARMY would never forget. The organization further emphasized that the evening gave all five children and their families an opportunity to make memories together beyond their experiences with cancer.
Furthermore, the moment quickly spread across social media, prompting BTS fans around the world to learn more about the organization and begin donating in the young girl's honor. Heroes for Children subsequently launched a $50,000 fundraising campaign aimed at creating similar experiences for other children and families facing childhood cancer.
ARMY has since pushed donations beyond $80,000, surpassing the original $50,000 target and prompting the campaign to set a new goal of $100,000. This further prompted the Heroes for Children Executive Director and Co-Founder Jenny Lawson to share a video in response.
"You've become part of our community, helping families with children fighting cancer across the state of Texas," she said "We don't have enough words to thank you for your heart, your joy, and your understanding of our mission. You’re making a difference. You are heroes for the children!"
What began as a brief interaction between Jimin and one young fan has therefore extended far beyond the Arlington concert, turning a viral moment into tangible support for families facing childhood cancer.
