BLACKPINK's Jennie Curls Up Amid String of Setbacks: "One Day It'll All Make Sense"
K-Pop group BLACKPINK's Jennie is back on social media with a quiet, reflective update. On Aug. 20, the singer posted a set of photos on her personal account with the caption, "One day it'll all make sense."
In the images, Jennie wears a red mini dress and poses in front of a large winged sculpture. Some shots show her curled up with her head lowered. In others, she looks straight into the camera. The mood is dreamlike and still.
The post comes at the end of a roughly three-month festival run. During that stretch, Jennie ran into problems on stage with her outfit and microphone, and there were moments when she could not deliver the show she had planned.
On Aug. 17, Jennie looked back on the run in another social media post. "Looking back, there were so many unexpected moments, so many highs and lows," she wrote. She added that not everything is going to be perfect, reflecting on what she had experienced over the past few months.
The update also arrives during a rough stretch for BLACKPINK and its fans. The group marked its 10th debut anniversary this month. But a fan event tied to the milestone was announced only two days in advance, capped at 40 attendees, and initially unclear on whether all four members would take part. The rollout set off backlash from fans who felt sidelined on a major anniversary.
In the days that followed, Jisoo, Rosé and Lisa each posted apologies to fans. Jennie followed on Aug. 17, writing that she was sorry "with no excuses." With her message, all four members had publicly addressed the situation.
Jennie did not elaborate on the meaning behind her latest caption. Still, the brief message has drawn attention as it comes after a string of eventful weeks both on and off stage.
