Jennie Goes Beyond the Glamour With 'Fallen Angel,' Out Today
K-pop group BLACKPINK member and solo artist Jennie has released her new digital EP, "Fallen Angel." The three-track project arrived on Aug. 28 at 1 p.m. KST across major streaming platforms.
The EP includes the title track "FALLEN ANGEL," a new song called "HEAVEN," and "Less than a Lover," which was released as a pre-release single in July.
"FALLEN ANGEL" is an acoustic pop track built around a guitar line, with a stripped-down arrangement that lets the vocal carry the song. The lyrics offer comfort to listeners searching for a place to feel at home. "HEAVEN" leans into a rougher, dreamier guitar sound to tell a story of two people who keep hurting each other but cannot walk away.
The music video for "FALLEN ANGEL," released the same day on Jennie's official YouTube channel, turns away from the glamour of the stage and focuses on her inner world. It follows her through a process of finding her identity and, with it, a sense of freedom.
The pre-release single "Less than a Lover" has already put up strong numbers. It topped Apple Music's "Today's Top 100: South Korea" and hit No. 1 on iTunes' "Top Songs" chart in 27 countries and regions. It also reached the top of YouTube's Trending Music Videos Worldwide chart and earned a Gold certification on China's QQ Music. On Mnet's "M Countdown," the song won first place for two straight weeks.
A physical version of the EP will follow on Oct. 30 with six tracks in total. Along with the three digital songs, the physical release adds "sweettooth," "lockitdown," and "Face." Jennie chose those three tracks herself for fans, and they will not appear on the digital edition. The physical EP sold out shortly after preorders opened on Aug. 26.
