Actress Kim Yoo-jung is trading modern roles for a colonial-era spy story. She stars in the upcoming tvN drama "100 Days of Deception" portraying Gyeongseong's top pickpocket who slips into the Japanese Government-General of Korea as an undercover agent for the independence movement.

"100 Days of Deception" is a romance set during a100-days period between two people who meet at the heart of enemy territory. One is a pickpocket turned spy. The other is an elite interpreter working for the Japanese colonial government. The story uses interpretation as a key plot device and follows the independence army planting its own agent inside the colonial administration.
The series is directed by Yoo In-sik, known for the "Dr. Romantic" series and "Extraordinary Attorney Woo." The script comes from writer Ryu Bo-ri, who previously wrote "Do You Like Brahms?" The cast includes Kim Yoo-jung, J.Y. Park, Kim Hyun-joo, Lee Moo-saeng, Jin Seon-kyu, Lee Ki-young, Choi Deok-moon, Seo Jung-yeon, Kim Do-hyun and Kim In-kwon.
The teaser opens at Gyeongseong Station, where Lee Ga-kyung works the crowds as a pickpocket. She is saving money for one goal: to leave for the United States.
Her plan changes when she tries to steal from Yoo So-ran, played by Kim Hyun-joo. Instead of turning her in, Yoo So-ran makes an offer. "I'll send you to America," she says. "Get inside the Government-General." Lee Ga-kyung agrees and heads into the colonial administration as a spy for the independence army.
Once inside, she introduces herself under a new identity: interpreter trainee Geum Seo-hee. There she meets Sato Hideo, a Government-General interpreter played by J.Y. Park. He is suspicious of her from the start, and the tension between the two is set up as a central thread of the show.
Kim Yoo-jung's character transforms from Gyeongseong's most skilled pickpocket into an undercover interpreter trainee inside the colonial government. She had been saving money to leave for America before being pulled into the independence movement.
J.Y. Park plays Sato Hideo, the adopted son of the Director of Political Affairs and a newly appointed elite interpreter at the Government-General. His Korean name is Kim Tae-woong. He returns to Korea after more than a decade abroad to take up the interpreter post.
