Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin Reunite in 'The Perfect Lie' After a Decade

Actors Yoo Yeon-seok and Seo Hyun-jin are back on screen together for the first time in about a decade. Their new project, MBC's psychological thriller "The Perfect Lie," released its first teaser on Sept. 11.

The two last shared the screen in the SBS drama "Dr. Romantic" roughly 10 years ago. In "The Perfect Lie," they play a couple who tell two completely different stories about the same memory. The show follows them as they push against each other to find the truth.

The teaser opens with a shot of the back of Kang Ji-sun, played by Seo Hyun-jin. It then cuts to her on a date with Min Jun-ho, played by Yoo Yeon-seok, as the two look at each other warmly. The mood shifts as Kang's voiceover says: "In a single day, the whole world changed, like a lie."

The scene then moves to what looks like a police interrogation room. The two give clashing accounts. "I'm telling you, it's not a lie," one says. "Please stop with this ridiculous lie," says the other. Kang tells Min, "If you did something, you should pay for it." Min stares back at her with a cold expression, a sharp turn from the warmth of their earlier date.

Near the end, the words "Who is the liar?" appear on screen. A voiceover follows: "Between the two of you, the one who lied is you." The teaser never reveals which character is telling the truth. In about 30 seconds, it sets up their conflicting statements, the sudden shift in their relationship, and the growing suspicion running between them.

"The Perfect Lie" premieres in October as MBC's new Friday-Saturday drama.
