i-dle's Miyeon Health Checkup Video Faces Police Investigation

A YouTube video documenting (G)I-DLE member Miyeon's first health checkup has been referred to police amid questions over whether the content violated South Korea's medical advertising laws.

According to reports on Sept. 16, the Yongsan District Public Health Center requested a police investigation after determining that it could not independently establish whether the medical institution had been directly involved in the video or whether any form of compensation had been exchanged.

The controversy centers on an episode uploaded to the YouTube channel "Jeondosa" on Sept. 1. The video followed Miyeon as she underwent a health examination at a hospital in Seoul, including a sedated endoscopy.

Viewers raised concerns after identifying information about the hospital, medical staff and facilities appeared in the footage, along with scenes showing parts of the examination process. Questions were subsequently raised over whether the exposure could constitute medical advertising under Korean law.

The production team denied any promotional arrangement with the hospital, saying it received no advertising fees, sponsorship or other financial support and paid for Miyeon's examination directly. It later added additional blurring to identifying information in the video.

The health center reportedly referred the case to police to determine whether the content legally qualifies as medical advertising and whether the hospital played any role in its production. The investigation remains ongoing.
