IU Donates $144,000 to Mark Debut Anniversary
IU has donated $144,000(200 million won) to four organizations in celebration of her debut anniversary on Sept. 18.
According to EDAM Entertainment, the singer and actress donated 50 million won each to the Korean Social Welfare Society, Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital, Heart to Heart Foundation and Habitat for Humanity Korea.
The funds will support several causes, including young adults preparing to live independently after leaving institutional care, rehabilitation treatment for children and teenagers from financially vulnerable families, and housing improvements for Korean national merit recipients.
IU made the donations under the name "IUANA," which combines her stage name with UAENA, the name of her fandom. She has regularly used the name when making donations on occasions including her birthday, debut anniversary and the end of the year.
Earlier this year, IU donated 100 million won for children and teenagers on Children's Day, followed by another 300 million won on her birthday in May.
IU recently released her digital single "From This Star" on Sept. 10, featuring the double title tracks "From This Star" and "Dear my crazy soulmate."
