ILLIT's MINJU Reaches Her Breaking Point in New Concept Film

ILLIT has begun rolling out individual concept films for its upcoming fifth EP, "BREAK EVEN," starting with MINJU.

Released Sept. 29, the "BURNING" version film depicts MINJU reaching a breaking point after growing frustrated with someone who continues to send mixed signals. The video takes that anger to an exaggerated extreme, showing her speeding in a car before shooting at the vehicle and eventually tearing into it with a chainsaw.

The tense sequence is set to Maurice Ravel's "Boléro," performed by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Its gradually intensifying arrangement mirrors the character's shift from restraint to release.

The film ties into the broader direction of "BREAK EVEN," which centers on recognizing when a relationship is no longer worth the time and effort being invested in it. That shift will also carry into title track "I'll Arrest You," which confronts someone whose habitual kindness has been mistaken for romantic interest.

"BREAK EVEN" will be released Oct. 26 at 6 p.m. KST.
