BTS Becomes First Pop Group to Top $500 Million in Tour Grosses, Eyes $1 Billion
K-pop group BTS has become the first pop group to gross more than $500 million (about 680 billion won) from a single world tour.
According to Billboard Boxscore figures released on Sept. 30, the K-pop group's "BTS WORLD TOUR 'ARIRANG'" has surpassed $500 million in cumulative ticket sales. The tour began in Goyang, South Korea, in April.
Fewer than 20 tours in Boxscore history have crossed the $500 million mark. BTS is only the seventh group to reach the milestone, with all six previous acts being rock bands. This makes BTS the first pop group to achieve the feat.
BTS also returned to No. 1 on Billboard's monthly Top Tours chart. The group grossed $171.7 million (about 230 billion won) and drew around 800,000 concertgoers from 12 shows across six North American cities in August.
It was the second-highest monthly gross in Billboard Boxscore history. Beyoncé holds the record with $179.3 million in August 2023.
The latest result marks BTS's fifth time topping the Top Tours chart. Bad Bunny leads with 10 No. 1s, followed by Beyoncé, Coldplay and Elton John with seven each.
All six cities on BTS's North American leg entered the August Top Boxscores chart, with five ranking inside the top 10. The group's two shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, delivered the strongest results, grossing $32.7 million (about 44.4 billion won) from 158,000 attendees.
Billboard projected that the tour could approach $1 billion (about 1.36 trillion won) in total revenue, with roughly 40 shows still scheduled.
BTS will begin the South American leg of the tour with two concerts at Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, Colombia, on Oct. 2 and 3. The group recently won three awards at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sept. 27, taking Song of the Year and Best K-Pop for "SWIM," the title track from its fifth studio album, "ARIRANG," as well as Best Group.
