T.O.P Fan Exhibition Canceled as Turnout Plunges After Nana Dating News
A fan-organized exhibition celebrating T.O.P's first solo album has been canceled after turnout fell far below expectations, with another wave of cancellations coming shortly after the singer and actor confirmed his relationship with Nana.
T.O.P's Korean fan site CHOIDOT announced Oct. 4 that "OFF GRID : NEW GROUND," originally scheduled for Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, would no longer take place. The photo exhibition was inspired by T.O.P's first solo full-length album, "ANOTHER DIMENSION."
Organizers said they had already scaled down the event to accommodate 300 visitors over two days, taking into account previous attendance and T.O.P's ongoing tour schedule. Even so, initial reservations reached only about 25% of that target, or fewer than 100 people.
The fan site initially planned to move forward despite having already paid for the venue and facing potential losses. However, it said cancellation requests from existing ticket holders continued to come in, eventually reducing expected attendance to just 10% to 15% of the originally planned daily capacity.
The timing has drawn attention as T.O.P confirmed his relationship with actress Nana on Oct. 2, just two days before the exhibition was called off. Some fans had expressed disappointment over the news and the way it was communicated, prompting speculation that the dating announcement contributed to the sudden cancellations.
The organizers, however, did not directly link the exhibition's cancellation to T.O.P's relationship. They cited declining attendance as the reason and said they decided to make the announcement early to minimize potential travel losses for overseas fans who had planned to visit Korea for the event.
