Rapper Uses AI-Generated Likeness of Faker in MV Without Permission

Korean rapper Northfacegawd has apologized for using an AI-generated likeness of pro gamer Faker in a music video without permission. He said he had also removed the video.

On Oct. 8, the rapper wrote in a social media post , "I'm sorry for the confusion and discomfort I caused by inserting an AI version of Faker at the end of the music video for my song 'Faker.'"

He said he had not intended to profit from using Faker's likeness. "I had no bad intentions, like trying to profit off a famous person's face," he wrote. "It happened entirely out of ignorance." He added that he had removed the video immediately.

"I'm truly sorry to Faker and SKT T1 fans who were made uncomfortable by this," he continued. "From now on, I'll think things through before I act."

"Faker" appears on the rapper's new album, released on Oct. 4. The video's closing scene featured an AI-generated likeness of Faker, drawing criticism over the unauthorized use of his image.

Northfacegawd gained recognition through his appearance on Mnet's 2021 hip-hop competition series "Show Me the Money 10."
