BTS Opens 'ARIRANG' South America Tour in Bogotá, Tops Global K-POP Chart
BTS has opened the South America leg of its world tour and claimed the top spot on K-POP's global buzz chart. After drawing roughly 1.92 million fans across North America, the group kicked off its South American run in Bogotá, Colombia, putting the attention back to the group at home and abroad.
According to the K-POP analytics index K-POPIT BOARD, BTS ranked No. 1 on the global chart on Oct. 8 with a PWR(GL) score of 64.4. The group also placed second on the domestic PWR(KR) chart with 64.2.
The surge comes with the group's start of their South America tour. BTS opened the leg on Oct. 2 and 3 at Estadio El Campín in Bogotá. It was the first time all seven members of BTS performed in Colombia together. Tickets sold out, and local attention built around projections of a major economic boost tied to the shows.
Bogotá's Department of Economic Development estimated that the concerts would generate about 126 billion Colombian pesos, or roughly 51.7 billion won, in economic impact, along with more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. Drone shows and related events ran in the city before and after the concerts, pushing the buzz beyond the venue itself.
Momentum from the earlier North American leg has carried into the group's South American run. BTS drew about 1.92 million fans across North America, with all sold-out shows throughout the leg. From Bogotá, the group has moved on to Lima, and will next go to Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo, keeping the global tour at full speed.
The detailed metrics tell the same story. On Oct. 8, BTS scored a perfect 100 in MAS, which tracks global media mentions, and 26.4 in FHI, which measures fandom activity. The group's D-tier growth rate, a gauge of interest from general audiences outside the core fandom, jumped 126.3 percent in a single day.
Mentions of BTS on TikTok also increased by 100 percent during the recent period. The lift on K-POPIT BOARD is not just online noise. It is also reflecting real content consumption.
BTS is continuing its "ARIRANG" in Lima, Perú, with shows on Oct. 7, 9, and 10 at Estadio San Marcos. The group will then move on to Santiago, Buenos Aires and São Paulo to continue the rest of the tour.
