WayV's Xiaojun Brings Musical Theater to Solo Debut With "Hey, Somebody"
WayV's Xiaojun is preparing to make his solo debut with a musical-theater-inspired performance for "Hey, Somebody," the title track of his first mini album, set for release on October 26.
According to SM Entertainment, the song explores the journey from feeling like a "nobody" to becoming a "somebody," focusing on self-discovery and recognizing one's own worth.
The mid-tempo track combines energetic drum beats with groovy piano, nylon-string guitar and a rhythmic bass line, creating an upbeat sound that complements its encouraging message.
Xiaojun's vocals are expected to bring a brighter, more playful quality to the song, marking a different approach from the performances he has delivered as a member of WayV.
The choreography will also reflect the track's theatrical direction, incorporating musical-style sequences alongside relaxed dance movements performed by Xiaojun and his dancers.
Notably, Xiaojun contributed his own ideas to parts of the choreography, adding a personal touch to the performance.
The album's concept was further introduced through an intro film released on WayV's official YouTube channel at midnight on October 19.The video alternates between scenes of people finding comfort in different ways and Xiaojun playing the piano and singing.
As the scenes unfold, his music serves as a connecting element between the characters' individual experiences, reinforcing the album's themes of reassurance and emotional connection.
"Hey, Somebody" will contain five tracks, including both Chinese and English versions of the title song. The mini album is scheduled for release on October 26 at noon KST.
Meanwhile, WayV is continuing its third concert tour, 2026 WayV CONCERT TOUR [BORN THIS Way].
Following performances in Seoul, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Changsha, Xiamen and Guangzhou, the group is scheduled to visit Beijing, Shanghai and Yokohama.
