"Serendipitous Day": EJAE Reveals Private Wedding to Sam Kim
EJAE, the singer behind Netflix's "KPop Demon Hunters," has married singer-songwriter Sam Kim in a private ceremony in Seoul. She shared the news on Instagram on Oct. 21, posting several photos from the day.
"Serendipitous day with the love of my life💍 10.17.26❤️," EJAE wrote in the caption.
The photos show the couple exchanging vows. EJAE wore a wedding dress before changed into a hanbok, a traditional Korean outfit. Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna, who collaborated with EJAE on "KPop Demon Hunters" song "Golden", were there to celebrate the couple.
The newlyweds reportedly set up a pojangmacha, a tented street-food stall commonly found in South Korea, outside the reception venue, serving guests Korean-style food. After the reception, they reportedly brought in a band and kept the party going with a small group of friends in Seoul's Itaewon area.
The couple had originally planned to marry in California in November. Instead, they held a private wedding on Oct. 17 at Stage28 in Seoul's Godeok area, in Gangdong district.
The venue also has family ties. Stage28 stands on the former site of the home of EJAE's maternal grandfather, veteran actor Shin Young-kyun, 99. It is also home to the Shin Young-kyun Arts and Culture Foundation. EJAE's older brother reportedly held his wedding there, too.
EJAE and Kim first met as colleagues at a songwriting session in 2017. They later began dating and got engaged in late 2023.
Before her breakout, EJAE spent 12 years as a trainee at SM Entertainment. She later built a career as a songwriter, composing tracks for K-POP acts including Red Velvet's "Psycho" and aespa's "Drama" and "Armageddon."
She reached a global audience as a vocalist on the soundtrack to Netflix's "KPop Demon Hunters," which became a worldwide hit. She performed as the lead vocalist of HUNTR/X, the fictional girl group at the center of the story, and sang and worked on key songs from the soundtrack.
Kim works as a producer, songwriter and computer programmer.
