Seo Hyun-jin Fights to Prove Her Story in MBC Thriller 'The Perfect Lie'
Actress Seo Hyun-jin has made her first appearance in "The Perfect Lie" (Raieo) as a woman set on proving what happened to her. The MBC drama premiered on the 30th.
"The Perfect Lie" is a psychological thriller about a man and a woman who make different claims about the same incident. Seo plays Kang Ji-seon, a teacher-librarian at an elementary school.
Kang is a teacher who looks out for her students with care. Her everyday life changes after she goes on a date with a man and something she did not expect happens. She likes him and has a good time with him. The next morning, she wakes up with confused memories.
From there, she sets out to confirm what happened to her and to prove she was harmed.
In the premiere, Seo played Kang as a woman caught off guard by a sudden incident. Her emotions shift with each situation, from her attraction to her date to her growing anxiety the next day as she tries to recall what happened. When Kang explains what she went through, Seo also shows her anger and her sense of being wronged.
Kang's emotions build as time goes on. Going back over what happened, she becomes more and more on edge. She pushes back against the other person's claims and insists that her memory is true. Seo shifts her voice and facial expressions to show the confusion Kang feels.
The character trusts her own memory, but she struggles because she cannot clearly recall what happened. With the two sides already at odds in the first episode, attention now turns to what Kang will choose to do to bring out the truth.
Episode 2 of "The Perfect Lie" airs on the 31st at 9:50 p.m. KST.
