Super Junior's Shindong Credits Netflix's 'The Devil's Plan: Dead Again' for Weight Loss
Super Junior member Shindong has a new diet secret, and it's a Netflix show. After losing 37 kilograms, the singer said filming the brain-game survival series "The Devil's Plan: Dead Again" (Debeulseu Peullaen: Deudeu Eogein) helped him more than any diet.
He made the comments at a press conference for the show, held on Nov. 5 at Mondrian Seoul Itaewon in Seoul's Yongsan district. The show's producers, Jung Jong-yeon and Choi Yun-hee, attended.
The full cast attended the press conference as well: Jang Dong-min, Hong Jin-ho, Ha Seok-jin, Oh Hyun-min, Jung Hyun-kyu, Nucksal, Seo Chul-gu, Shindong, John Park, Jaejae, Stella Jang, Yoo Ri-sa, Kim Dong-jae, Lee Do, Jung Won-young and Hyun Kyung-ryeol.
The show brings back legends who have won brain-game survival shows before and puts them up against strong new players. The stakes are bigger and the twists are harder to predict, and only one person walks away as the winner.
Shindong got a laugh as soon as he took the mic. "Hello, I'm Shindong, the human Mounjaro," he said, referring to the brand-name weight-loss injection.
He then talked about what filming was like. "You don't need any other diet," he said. "I think 'The Devil's Plan' helped my diet the most."
He also hoped the whole cast could cash in. "I hope this show becomes a huge hit so all 16 of us get to film commercials," he said. His pick was an ad for instant rice. "I really love rice," he added.
Shindong made headlines earlier when news spread that he had lost 37 kilograms. He has gone through several rounds of dieting and weight regain in the past. This time, he reportedly lost the weight by changing his daily habits rather than relying on weight-loss injections such as Wegovy or Mounjaro. He is also said to be keeping the weight off.
For a star who has joked about his weight for years, the punchline has changed. Now he is the one setting the terms, and he's doing it with a Netflix show and a bowl of rice.
"The Devil's Plan: Dead Again" premieres Nov. 10 on Netflix.
