SHINee's MINHO Faces Downpour In Triathlon Challenge
SHINee member MINHO is taking on a triathlon in pouring rain. The MBC variety show "I Live Alone" will show him competing in a triathlon in Tongyeong in an episode airing on Nov. 6 at 11:10 p.m. KST.
Photos released ahead of the broadcast show MINHO soaked by the rain and fully focused on the race.
The swim came first, with plenty of rough physical contact among competitors. Then came the bike leg. Riding his bicycle, nicknamed "Black Devil," MINHO shouts "I can do it!" as he speeds ahead. Soon, though, he realizes he is facing a serious challenge.
The rain keeps getting heavier, making the cycling stretch difficult even for experienced triathletes.
"My mind suddenly just fell apart," MINHO says, recalling the moment.
He pushes himself to make up for the lost time. All the way to the finish line, he keeps telling himself, "Don't let yourself get this weak!" His goal was to beat his own personal best. Whether he got past the setback and hit that mark will be revealed on the show.
MINHO also recalls one moment he can't forget. "That was the moment the dopamine hit the hardest," he says.
The episode follows a recent controversy. At the 2026 JTBC Seoul Marathon on Nov. 1, a video spread online that appeared to show a pacemaker (a runner who helps set the pace) pushing MINHO by the lower back. That sparked claims of improper assistance.
MINHO finished the full course in 3 hours, 0 minutes and 18 seconds. That put him close to a "sub-3" finish, or under three hours. Critics pointed out that getting a push from another person could break race rules.
On Nov. 3, MINHO apologized on social media.
"I'm sorry for disappointing so many people at the marathon I took part in on Nov. 1," he wrote. "Everything happened because of my own shortcomings. I will not accept this marathon result myself, and I won't forget the lessons I learned through this process."
After that apology, the triathlon puts MINHO back in a race on camera. This time, the fight is with the weather and his own limits.
