BLACKPINK's JENNIE Gives Cinderella a New Sound With First Animated Film Song

BLACKPINK's JENNIE is making her first contribution to an animated film soundtrack with "Someone to Hold," a new song featured in Netflix's upcoming film "Steps."

The track will be released on streaming platforms on Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. KST.

"Steps" is an animated action comedy that reimagines the Cinderella story from the perspective of her stepsister Lilith, offering a different take on the familiar fairy tale.

Inspired by vintage and organic dance-pop, "Someone to Hold" is a powerful ballad that accompanies an emotional climax in the film.

The song focuses on the bond between sisters and the importance of having someone to rely on.

Ahead of its official release, "Someone to Hold" received a nomination for Song – Animated Film at the Hollywood Music in Media Awards.

Reflecting on the project, JENNIE said she enjoyed working on her first animated film song and appreciated the characters' warmth and personalities.

The soundtrack appearance follows her recent solo activities, including her collaboration with Tame Impala on "Dracula" and the release of her digital EP "Fallen Angel" in August.
