Less than a year after forming under JYP Entertainment, KickFlip announced themselves as one of K-pop's more closely watched rookie acts, surpassing 400,000 initial sales with their third mini-album — a Hanteo Chart milestone that earned them a third consecutive Initial Sales Certification Plaque and signaled consistent commercial growth from the moment of their debut. The seven-member group debuted on January 20, 2025, and has moved quickly through a compact but densely scheduled early discography, arriving at their fourth mini-album before their first full year in the industry had closed.

Debut and early discography

KickFlip launched with the album "Flip It, Kick It!" in January 2025 and followed that with the composition "My First Love Song" the same year. The group's representative works — "Band-Aid" and "It's a secret that I had a nightmare" — established an early sonic identity before the group pivoted into a more overtly confident register with subsequent releases.

Their third mini-album, "My First Flip", marked a measurable commercial turning point. The 400,000-plus initial sales figure represented a career high at that stage and demonstrated growing fandom momentum across successive releases — each of the first three entries on the Hanteo chart outperforming the one before it.

Fourth mini-album: *My First Kick*

Released on April 6, 2026, "My First Kick" arrived as KickFlip's most assertive statement to date. The title track "I Want to Be an Eyesore" is a hyper-funk-based dance track built around a direct, unambiguous love confession — the group's own term for the concept, "Kick-ral" (a portmanteau nodding to both their name and the Korean word for charm), signals a personality-forward approach that distinguishes their positioning within JYP's broader roster. The album carries seven tracks in total, including the pre-release single "Twenty," which the group used to build anticipation ahead of the April showcase.

The comeback followed the group's first national fan concert tour, which concluded in early 2026 — a significant early infrastructure milestone for a group still in its rookie period. The Daegu date of that tour was the occasion on which members first announced the new album directly to fans in the audience.

Members

KickFlip debuted as a seven-member group. Member Amaru is currently on hiatus due to psychological anxiety, and the group is actively promoting as a six-member unit. The remaining active members are Donghwa, Donghyeon, Juwang, Keiju, Kyehoon, and Minje.

At the time of the "My First Kick" comeback, member Donghyeon — the group's youngest — had recently come of age, making KickFlip an all-adult lineup for the first time. Member Minje, who holds New Zealand heritage, made public that he relinquished his dual New Zealand citizenship to commit fully to promoting in South Korea, a decision he described as having made without hesitation.

Persona and public presence

A recurring thread in KickFlip's press narrative is the group's comfort in front of variety cameras — notable partly because JYP Entertainment acts have historically been described as less at ease in that format. An appearance on BIGBANG member Daesung's YouTube channel "Jibdaeseong" drew attention for the group's sharp comic timing and willingness to lean into fan-service humor. Member Donghwa similarly made an impression on the talk program "MMTG," where host Jaejae reacted with visible surprise to his self-described "anxious attachment" personality, illustrated by an anecdote about sending hundreds of messages via a fan communication platform.

Kyehoon in particular has been centered in promotional materials as the group's designated "flirting master" — a designation that feeds directly into the "I Want to Be an Eyesore" concept and suggests a degree of deliberate character-building around individual members as the group continues to define its public identity.
