WINNER (위너)

Few K-pop groups carry the weight of their own origin story as openly as WINNER. Formed through YG Entertainment's 2013 survival competition and debuting on August 17, 2014, the four-member group — Yoon (formerly Seungyoon), Jinu (formerly Jinwoo), Mino, and Hoony (formerly Seunghoon) — built a reputation on a more restrained, song-driven aesthetic than was typical of the YG stable, with representative works including "Fate Number For" and "Our Twenty For" anchoring their identity in melodic introspection rather than spectacle.

Debut & Formation

WINNER's debut album 2014 S/S arrived with notable anticipation given YG's profile, and the group positioned itself early as one oriented around composition and songwriting, with members actively involved in creating their own material. That creative posture would remain a consistent thread across their output. The group carried four members through most of its active period, with Nam Taehyun departing after the debut era.

Music & Discography

The group's catalog spans studio albums, EPs, and standalone singles across both the Korean and Japanese markets. The 2016 EP EXIT : E marked a return following a period of relative quiet and extended their presence on the domestic charts. Their 2017 singles, "Fate Number For" and "Our Twenty For," represent the works most closely associated with the group's commercial and artistic profile — the latter also receiving a Japanese edition release in 2018.

The 2018 studio album Everyday continued the group's output under YG, and was followed by the EP WE and the full-length Cross, both released in 2019. Across these projects, WINNER maintained a style that drew on R&B and acoustic pop influences, distinguishing them from the more performance-heavy acts on the same roster. The composition Millions, also from 2018, added to their catalog during what was a particularly active stretch.

A later album titled Remember rounds out the known discography, with the group also associated with the Asia Top Music Festival 2026 on the live events side.

The group debuted in 2014 as a five-member act, with Taehyun forming part of the original line-up before his departure. The remaining four members have continued as WINNER since.
