ENHYPEN Launches New 'Sin' Album Series After Three Grand Prize Wins
ENHYPEN Returns With 'THE SIN: VANISH,' First Album Since 2025 MAMA Sweep
ENHYPEN returns with seventh EP "THE SIN: VANISH" on Nov. 16, the group's first release since sweeping three daesang trophies at the 2025 MAMA Awards.
K-pop group ENHYPEN is back, and the seven members say they have been sharpening their teeth for months. The group's seventh EP, "THE SIN: VANISH," arrives Nov. 16 at 2 p.m. KST, marking its first release since sweeping three grand prizes at the 2025 MAMA Awards last year.
ENHYPEN met with reporters on Nov. 14 at a cafe in Mapo, Seoul, to discuss the new album. The mood was confident. The group is closing out a banner year and opening what it describes as a new chapter built around the theme of sin.
"2026 is the year of the horse, and three of our members were born in the horse year," said Jake. "We believe that's a good sign for what we can achieve this year."
"THE SIN: VANISH" follows two lovers who break the taboos of a society where humans and vampires live side by side. It is the first installment in a new album series that uses the seven deadly sins as a creative motif. For a group that has leaned into a vampire concept since debut, the framing is a deepening of identity rather than a reinvention.
The title track, "Knife," is a hip-hop song built on heavy trap beats and sharp synths, framed as a declaration that the couple will face any threat head-on. The members made clear the song has been a long time coming.
"This is a comeback we prepared for a long time," said Jay. "We sharpened our knives for the title track." Ni-ki echoed the point: "The moment I heard the demo, I thought, 'This album is it.' We've been grinding our teeth getting ready."
The EP is structured like an episode of an investigative TV program, an in-universe show the group is calling "Mystery Show," used to walk listeners through the story track by track. The opening cut is a narration piece voiced by actor Park Jung-min, known for a filmography built on understated, detailed performances.
"He's an actor I really like, someone with a delicate sense of expression," said Sunghoon. "When I heard he was doing the narration, I thought he would tell our story well. And he really did. The story can feel a little difficult, but he explains it like he's reading a picture book. I think that'll help more people get into it easily."
Jake recommended listening straight through. "Each of the six songs has a different mood, and we put the messages we wanted to share into a range of genres," he said. "If you listen closely, you'll feel how it all connects."
Off the album, ENHYPEN is also tying the release to a blood donation campaign with the Korea Red Cross, leaning into the vampire concept in a way the group describes as deliberately positive. Jungwon said taking part felt meaningful. "It's an honor to work on a campaign with such a good purpose," he said. "I haven't been able to donate yet because of the waiting period after overseas travel, but I'd like to when I can. It's a chance to have a good impact not just on ENGENE" — the group's fandom — "but on the wider public."
The vampire concept, members agreed, is the foundation of the group's identity at home and abroad. "At the start it was hard, but now we have our own color," said Ni-ki. "Having such a clear concept is what makes us different. Even inside one concept, we can try different genres. That's what's fun about it." Sunghoon added that the group is now focused on how to "tell this story in a way that's easier for more people to enjoy."
A turning point in that effort, the members said, was Coachella. ENHYPEN performed at the festival earlier this year, and Ni-ki credited the response to the group's involvement in the show's direction. "A lot of our opinions went into that stage, and I think the sincerity came through," he said. Jake described it as a lesson in reaching beyond the fandom. "We had to catch the eye of people who don't know us and don't know K-pop. I want to keep making music and albums that those listeners can connect with too." He called the new EP "a polished album that can also appeal to a wider audience."
ENHYPEN debuted in November 2020 and is now in its sixth year, a point at which K-pop contracts are typically renegotiated. Asked about that, leader Jungwon kept it brief. "Nothing has been discussed yet," he said. "We'll keep working hard for ENGENE."
The group spent the latter half of 2025 collecting trophies. At the 2025 MAMA Awards, ENHYPEN won three grand prizes, cementing its status among the genre's top acts. Heeseung said the win closed a loop set years ago. "I think I can say this now," he said. "Not long after we debuted, we set winning a daesang in 2025 as our goal. It was one of our biggest targets."
Jungwon recalled an even earlier moment. "Before we debuted, right after the audition show ended in 2020, our team manager gathered us in the living room and wrote '2025' and '1' on the board. The '1' meant first place. When we actually won the daesang, that memory came back and I got chills."
Several members cried on stage that night. "All the memories from our activities so far rushed back," Jungwon said. "Because it's a Fans' Choice award, I felt so much gratitude toward our fans. I remembered the times during the pandemic when we couldn't meet them, and the emotions just hit me."
The members say the awards now feel like a starting point rather than a finish line. "It's like a dream came true. As an artist, it was a huge turning point in my life," said Heeseung. "I want to take it as a message telling us to keep making better work, not to settle." Jay, who became known during the survival show "I-LAND" for citing what he called "won-bun-su" said that frame is gone. "After becoming a daesang artist, there is no more 'won-bun-su.' I just feel happy and proud, and I have a lot of expectations for the future."
For ENHYPEN, the vampire concept is no longer a debut gimmick. It is the long-running fiction the group is using to build a sustained body of work, and "THE SIN: VANISH" is the next chapter.
