LE SSERAFIM Finds Its Sound Through Reinterpretation
LE SSERAFIM’s new title track “BOOMPALA” drew attention for sampling the global hit “Macarena,” continuing the group’s pattern of reinterpreting familiar classics into songs tied to the team’s own message and identity.
On May 22nd, LE SSERAFIM released its second full-length album “PUREFLOW pt.1” with the title track, “BOOMPALA” centering on the idea that fear can become an opportunity for positive change depending on one's perspective.
The song samples the global hit “Macarena,” thus incorporating familiar melodies and choreography elements from the original track to create a new atmosphere. This was created to encourage audience participation due to the original song's popularity and positive nature.
The group isn't new to music sampling as in 2023, the group’s title track “UNFORGIVEN” sampled music from The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, using rugged Western-inspired sounds to reinforce the group’s message. Furthermore the group also took their spin in classic Korean music with "Pierrot" which was a part of the group's 2025 mini-album "CRAZY."
LE SSERAFIM is schedule to perform at Kyung Hee University International Campus Festival on May 27th before appearing at the “2026 Weverse Con Festival” on June 6th and 7th. Lastly, the group will also begin its second world tour “2026 LE SSERAFIM TOUR ‘PUREFLOW’” in Incheon on July 11th before continuing across Japan, North America and Europe.
