SEVENTEEN's Vernon and The 8 Reveal Final 'REV' Concept for Debut Unit Album 'V8'
SEVENTEEN sub-unit V8 is closing in on its debut mini-album, with the group revealing the final concept teasers just one week before release. The unit, made up of members Vernon and The 8, dropped the "REV" version concept film and photos through SEVENTEEN's official social media on June 22.
The name "REV" comes from the term for revving an engine, a nod to the album's theme of forward motion. The visuals frame V8's journey across a golden field, tying the project's "burned-out youth" concept to the brief, glowing hours of sunset. In one scene, the two members set off fireworks together, turning confusion and uncertainty into fuel for the ride.
The concept film, titled "REV the engine," pairs the duo's restless energy with a heavy, rough electro trash sound. The track previews a different mood from the earlier "CHECK OUT" and "RATS NEST" versions, leaning into a harder edge that pushes the album's momentum forward.
"V8," out June 29, channels past wandering and confusion into electronic music that also captures moments of recovery and growth. The mini-album holds eight tracks in total, including the title song "singasong." V8 worked with a lineup of well-known producers from South Korea and abroad, including Pharrell Williams, Mechatok, KIRARA, and Dylan Brady.
Ahead of the album's release, V8 will host a pre-listening party on June 28 at Grain House in the Itaewon neighborhood of Seoul's Yongsan district. The unit designed the event as a DJ party, a format rarely used for K-pop album previews.
Solo shows follow soon after. V8 will hold "2026 VERNON THE 8 [V8] LIVE" on July 11 and 12 at Hall 1 of KINTEX Exhibition Center 1 in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, then on July 17, 18, and 19 at Hall 10 of AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong.
The debut marks one of SEVENTEEN's most ambitious sub-unit projects to date, pulling two of the group's members into a sound and staging approach built outside the usual K-pop playbook.
