i-dle's 'We Made' Draws Global Praise for Genre-Spanning Sound
i-dle's new album is finding a warm reception overseas. Since its release on the 6th, the group's ninth mini album, "We Made," has drawn attention from international media and Latin pop producers who worked on the project.
U.K. outlet Euphoria wrote that i-dle is "evolving its artistry by taking on new sounds," adding that the group, "known for blending diverse talents and tastes, appears to draw inspiration from multiple genres." The outlet noted that the album moves through "hip-hop, K-POP, bubblegum, rap, soul, soft rock and ballads."
Euphoria singled out the title track, "Gimme Dat Love," for its whistle hook and mid-song group chant, calling the chorus especially catchy. Among the other tracks, the outlet described "Morning" as a synth-driven song, and "Love Is Pain," a self-composed ballad by Yuqi, as a slow-tempo track about the ache left behind after love is gone.
Producers on the album also shared their thoughts. Samantha Cámara said she has been a fan since 2018 and called it meaningful to take part in the project. Producer Alyx said it mattered to work with an artist that "pushes against conventional thinking and represents many forms of love and many kinds of people."
"Gimme Dat Love" centers on the feeling and instinct of falling in love. i-dle plans to continue promotions through music shows and other content, and the group is also set to perform at Lollapalooza in Chicago.
