Wanna One's Ong Seong-wu Books First Full Drama Role Opposite Park Eun-bin

Actor Park Eun-bin and Ong Seong-wu are teaming up for a new tvN drama that blends the occult with a slow-burn love triangle. For Ong, who recently reunited with his group Wanna One, the project marks his first full drama role since finishing military service.

tvN's new Saturday-Sunday drama "Spooky Romance" (Ossakhan Yeonae) premieres July 18 at 9:10 p.m. KST. The series follows an heiress who can see ghosts and a hot-blooded prosecutor who fears them more than anything.

Park plays Cheon Yeo-ri, the CEO of Korea's top luxury hotel and the heir to a major hotel and resort group. She has wealth, fame, and beauty, but she can also see and hear ghosts that no one else can. Anyone she touches gains the same ability, so she keeps her distance from other people.

Ong plays Kang Min-hwan, the heir to the CL Hotel & Resort Group and the CEO of CL Raymond Hotel. He hides his own secret behind a polished smile. He wants his parents' approval and his company's respect, and he goes after whatever he wants.

The two have known each other for years. Their friendship shifts when Kang starts to see Cheon as more than a friend. Cheon, wanting to protect him from the curse she carries, keeps things strictly professional as a rival hotel CEO. The tug between friendship, romance, and business is meant to drive the story.

Stills released ahead of the premiere hint at that tension. In one image, Kang beams at Cheon after their reunion, but Cheon holds back with a stiff expression. In another, the mood flips once the two face off as heads of competing hotels. Kang's warm smile is gone, replaced by a cold stare.

"The line Cheon Yeo-ri and Kang Min-hwan can't cross gives their relationship a different kind of pull from Cheon's romance with Ma Kang-wook," the production team said. "We hope viewers pay attention to why Cheon chose to step back for a friend, and what Kang really feels as he tries to break down that decision."

The drama is a follow-up project for Park and a notable comeback for Ong. He completed his active-duty army service in October 2024. Since then, he made special appearances in the short-form drama "Love : Track - First Love Is a Wired Earphone" (Reobeu : Teuraek - Cheotsarangeun Jurieopon) and "Monthly Boyfriend" (Wolgannamchin). "Spooky Romance" is his first full drama role.

The timing lands during a fresh wave of attention on Wanna One, which recently reunited nine years after debut. Park Ji-hoon has been stepping up his acting work since the reunion, and Ong's return with "Spooky Romance" puts more focus on where the group's actors go next.
