Sunmi's 'Forever July' Offers a Different Take on the Summer Song

Sunmi has released the music video for her latest digital single "Forever July," offering a visual interpretation of the song's themes of love and uncertainty.

Released on July 15, "Forever July" reimagines the atmosphere of summer through the lens of an unexpected romance. Rather than focusing on the season's typical bright imagery, the song draws parallels between falling in love and the arrival of an unseasonal rainstorm.

The music video builds on that concept through scenes of rain-soaked streets, damp hair, and overcast skies, using weather as a metaphor for the emotions that arrive unexpectedly and cannot seem to be controlled. Blending realistic moments with more surreal visual sequences, the video follows the emotional narrative established by the song's lyrics.

The release continues Sunmi's long-running approach of pairing each project with a distinct visual identity. Through understated styling, expressive performances, and cinematic direction, "Forever July" presents a different take on the summer concept compared with the brighter seasonal releases typically associated with the genre.

The music video follows a series of concept photos and teaser clips released ahead of the comeback, which introduced the song's rainy-season aesthetic.

"Forever July" is now available on major streaming platforms, with the music video streaming through Sunmi's official YouTube channel.
