BTS Tops K-POPIT BOARD After World Cup Halftime, Europe Tour
BTS has claimed the top spot on both the global and domestic K-pop power charts after headlining the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show and wrapping a 10-date European tour. The back-to-back run pushed the group beyond its fandom base and further into the global mainstream.
According to the K-pop analytics index K-POPIT BOARD on July 20, BTS ranked first on both the Global Power Index (PWR_GL) and the Domestic Power Index (PWR_KR). The group's domestic score came in at 68.8.
The Power Index combines global music chart performance, social media activity, video consumption, fandom response, and media exposure. BTS climbed to the top of both charts on the strength of its European tour and its World Cup final halftime slot, which pulled in viewers well beyond its usual music audience.
Earlier that morning at 4 a.m. KST, BTS performed at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. It was the first halftime show ever staged at a World Cup final in the tournament's 96-year history. BTS appeared as one of the headliners alongside Madonna, Shakira, and Justin Bieber.
For the set, BTS performed its global hit "Dynamite." The group rewrote portions of the lyrics with soccer-themed lines such as "kick the ball" and "a game of football," tailoring the song to the stage.
The European tour drove the numbers just as much. BTS wrapped the run on July 18 with a show at Stade de France in Paris. The tour hit five cities, Madrid, Brussels, London, Munich, and Paris, with 10 shows total and drew roughly 717,000 fans.
The Paris finale drew notable guests. French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron attended the show, a rare appearance by a French head of state at a K-pop concert and a marker of how far the group's reach in the country now runs.
The detailed metrics point in the same direction. BTS posted a perfect 100.0 on the Viral Conversion Rate (VCR), a score that tracks how effectively online buzz turns into actual music consumption. The World Cup stage and the European tour built global interest, and that interest is now moving into streaming.
The tour and the World Cup slot also pushed the group past its core fandom into wider public attention. Its Media Attention Score (MAS), which measures general public interest based on news coverage, also hit 100.0. Its D-Index, which tracks reach outside the fandom, rose 48%.
Up next is North America. BTS kicks off the leg on August 1 and 2 at MetLife Stadium in New York. After sweeping both the global and domestic K-POPIT BOARD charts, the question is whether the group can hold that momentum through its U.S. run.
