HYBE Bets on K-Pop IP Fashion With Korea Fashion Association
HYBE is moving deeper into fashion. The company behind BTS said on July 23 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Korea Fashion Association to expand K-POP IP-based fashion products and strengthen ties between the entertainment and fashion industries.
The two sides said the deal is built on each partner's expertise. HYBE brings the artist intellectual property. The Korea Fashion Association brings the industry network. Together, they aim to grow fashion goods tied to K-POP IP and the businesses connected to them.
Under the agreement, HYBE and the association plan to work with top Korean manufacturers to build a production system for K-POP IP-based fashion items. The goal is to tie content and manufacturing more closely and lift the competitiveness of both.
"K-POP is going beyond music and connecting with many industries to create new value," said Yoo Dong-joo, CEO of HYBE Music Group APAC. "We will expand cooperation with top Korean manufacturers and open up new possibilities in K-POP IP-based fashion."
Sung Rae-eun, chair of the Korea Fashion Association, framed the deal as a bridge between global culture and daily life. "If K-POP has introduced Korean culture to the world, fashion is the industry that lets people experience it in everyday life," she said. "We hope this partnership becomes a turning point that strengthens K-fashion's global competitiveness and revitalizes the country's manufacturing base."
The move fits a broader pattern in K-POP, where major labels have pushed further into merchandise, lifestyle products, and brand collaborations built around their artists. For HYBE, the tie-up signals that artist IP is being treated less as a music asset alone and more as a platform that can carry Korean manufacturing into global consumer markets.
